VOYAGE Horizons Module 2: The Facilitator
The person steering the meeting decides whether a PLC works. Train them well.

About this resource
PLC facilitators are usually strong classroom teachers. That is not the same skill set as guiding a room of adults with differing viewpoints. Module 2 trains facilitators in the specific work of the role, from picking the right person to running the first meeting. The module covers how to select facilitators, what their responsibilities are, and how to set a school purpose and philosophy that gives meetings a compass. Facilitators learn to set and maintain norms, build agendas with team jobs, and handle the real challenges: dominant voices, off-topic detours, reluctant participants, conflict, and never enough time. The heart of the module is the Short Data Cycle, a five-step routine for moving from formative data to instructional decisions inside a single meeting, using the I Notice, I Wonder protocol and the Core 4 Questions. For Lead Teams and the teacher leaders who will facilitate. Builds directly on Module 1.
